Face The Music Face the Music, with its elements of comedy, physical theatre, and dance, is as unique and entertaining as anything you’ll ever see or hear in a concert hall. By putting "masks on the music", and occasionally on the musicians as well, Face the Music has made classical—and not so classical—music accessible to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
In January 2005, Kansas composer/conductor Gary Gackstatter—a fan of Faustwork Mask Theatre—asked writer/director/performer Rob Faust to be a guest artist with the Winnfield Regional Symphony. With a resounding yes, Mr. Faust sent Mr. Gackstatter a DVD of Faustwork's masked characters in action. Music was then composed for each of the characters, and Mr. Faust wrote the script/scenario for what has turned out to be a unique collaboration in the world of symphony performance. In future bookings of Face the Music, new music can be composed, or the original score can be used.
